Position: Truss Designer
Reports To: Design Manager
Responsibilities:
• Record and expedite repairs or corrections as noted by R/C and follow up an implement corrective actions.
• Produce floor and roof truss plans, layouts, truss design drawings and truss quotes using your ability to understand blueprints and customer requirements for specific projects.
• Determine design specification based on blueprints and structural design needs.
• Review other designers work as part of a check system to reduce design errors prior to submitting paperwork to manufacturing.
• Communicate with sales staff and customers on technical aspects of plans which require clarification.
• Consult with more experienced colleagues and management when more in-depth analysis is required.
• Understand and observe all safety procedure and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attend safety meetings, recommend changes for improvement, etc.
• Consistently delivery high quality, cost effective designs to both our internal and external customers.
• Review project design and drive accurate releases to production and logistics.
Requirements & Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years of Design Experience.
• Expert Blueprint (Architecture, Structural and Mechanical) Reading Skills.
• Comprehensive Knowledge of Rough Framing and the Construction Process.
• Command of Local and National Building Codes, Structural Analysis and Structural Engineering, Communicate and Enforce Adherence.
• Expertise in the Application of Building Components and Connections of Floor and Roof Systems and in the Application of Floor (I-Joist and LVL), Roof and Floor (truss) Systems and Tall Walls.
• Expert Skills to Design Floor and Roof Trusses, I-Joist, LVL and Beams.
• Lead and Direct Efforts to Value Engineering Roof and Floor Systems, Optimize both Macro Systems and Micro Component Designs for Greatest Effectiveness and Minimal Waste.
• Provide Technical Direction for the Development of Placement Plans and Quality Control Procedures.
• Superior Knowledge of Computer Software, i.e.; MS Excel, Outlook and Word, ZyTrac, Mitek and Istruct.
• Highly Qualified to Instruct and Train Staff on Software and other Technical Issues.
• Strong Problem Solving Skills to Resolve Incomplete, Ambiguous Project Requirements, Errors or Omissions within Blueprints.
• Comprehensive Understanding of Manufacturing and Logistics Operations.
